Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) & Proloquo2Go

Join Leah Gardner for an informative session on Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and the Proloquo2Go app. She will provide an overview, including myths, about AAC as well as specifics on how to use, customize, and modify Proloquo2Go for a particular user. Benefits of core word vocabulary through the Crescendo option and bi-lingual features will be explored. Ideas for incorporating AAC into daily life and education will be shared.
About Leah Gardner: Communication is Leah’s passion. She has been actively involved in the process of providing a VOICE through a communication device or app for many children and adults. Leah received her Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas. In spring of 2014, she earned her ATP (Assistive Technology Professional) Certification from RESNA (Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America). Leah’s work experience in the field of disability and assistive technology includes working as Director of Assistive Technology for a total of 10 years at New Life Medical Equipment and Ability Connection Texas. She worked for 13 years at United Cerebral Palsy in Memphis, Tennessee where her work focused on training and job placement services for individuals with all types of disabilities in an inclusive training environment. Leah believes that adults work! Sometimes assistive technology is what makes that possible.
Participants will best benefit from this workshop if you have the Proloquo2Go app in front of you, but having access to the app is not required in order to attend.
