Welcome & Introductions

An interactive tour of real-time audio and music programming tools, including Manhattan and Klang, in the contexts of learning (notably on MuSE), audio software development (DSP prototyping, C++, synthesis, effects), and procedural audio/music for game design (Unity, Unreal) - featuring digital models of Jimi Hendrix, destructible orchestras, and the whole of Britain.

A RADical Approach

Neural audio processing has unlocked novel methods of sound transformation and synthesis, yet integrating deep learning models into digital audio workstations remains challenging due to real-time inference constraints and the complexities of plugin development.  In this talk, I'll provide an overview of neural approaches for audio effect emulation and timbre transfer, as well as introduce the Neutone SDK and its free accompanying plugins that streamline the deployment of PyTorch-based neural audio models for both real-time and offline applications. I'll also briefly discuss some of the challenges involved in building neural audio plugins and provide examples of their use in performances and creative applications.

New MIDI 2.0 features, such as querying device metadata and sending & receiving high-resolution messages are now available in JUCE.  We'll give an overview of how these features work, and show how you can use the new JUCE APIs to extend the functionality of your software.

Emerging technologies are not only reshaping how creators work, but also redefining what it means to be a creator.  This panel will explore the latest trends in creator tools - from AI-assisted music production to next-gen plugins and DAWs, and try to unpack what it all means for the future of music-making.
