Synopsis:
On the Basis of Sex is based on the true story that follows young Ruth Bader Ginsburg – then a struggling attorney and new mother – who faces adversity and numerous obstacles in her fight for equal rights throughout her career. When Ruth (Felicity Jones) takes on a groundbreaking tax case with her husband Marty (Armie Hammer), she knows it could forever change the way the courts and the United States view gender discrimination.
The film also chronicles the romance between Ruth and Marty, a partnership that succeeded both personally and professionally. Directed by Mimi Leder and written by Daniel Stiepleman, On the Basis of Sex also co-stars Justin Theroux, Kathy Bates, Sam Waterston, Jack Reynor, and Cailee Spaeny.
