Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota began in 1865 when a Lutheran pastor and his congregation opened an orphanage for children near Red Wing. Today, with 2,300 employees and 8,000 volunteers, Lutheran Social Service helps one in 65 Minnesotans each year live and work in a community with safety, dignity, and hope. Through a wide range of services, the organization seeks to provide safety and supportive homes for children, counseling to restore health and wellness in families, community living for people with disabilities, and options that help seniors experience independence and abundant aging.

Attachment is the foundation of human development that is essential to the development of trust. Trust allows us to move forward in developing the skills we need to travel through life. This class will discuss the attachment cycle, how trust develops and the importance of this basic interaction. We will look at attachment on a continuum and discuss two styles of attachment.Course description:We will explore the foundations of attachment, how it impacts the developing brain and implications for building healthy relationships.Objectives:<ol><li>Identify two types of attachment</li><li>Describe the attachment cycle</li><li>Identify characteristic of secure attachment vs disorganized attachment.</li></ol>Presenter: Keatha McLeod, ADN, LSS Therapeutic Fostercare CoordinatorKeatha has been a foster parent for more than 20 years. She has presented at ATTACh, the national conference for the Association for Training on Trauma and Attachment in Children. In addition, she has 20 years of experience as a PRIDE trainer on trauma and attachment in children and youth. Questions?
