About this event

  • 4 hours

Suicidal behavior is a major cause of death and disability in the United States. Over 30,000 people die by suicide each year, the equivalent of one major airliner filled with passengers crashing every two days. Hundreds of thousands of people are treated in hospital emergency departments each year following a suicide attempt.

AMSR-Direct Care Training (AMSR-DC) is designed to familiarize you with the AMSR approach and the risk formulation, giving you the understanding and skills to assist in the treatment of those at risk for suicide. You'll learn how you can help identify and support individuals with suicide risk by using the suicide risk identification, assessment, and management competencies taught in the AMSR-Direct Care Outpatient training.

The AMSR-DC Outpatient Training workshop prepares non-clinical staff working in outpatient care settings to provide confident and empathetic care to patients at risk of suicide. This is a companion training, meant to be used in settings where clinical providers have already attended the AMSR-Outpatient Training and are implementing the AMSR risk formulation.

Training includes: A half-day of of content that includes discussion, role-playing, and video segments. You'll receive an AMSR manual, so you can take with you the information, background, and tips that are covered in the session.

Who should attend? Direct care professionals who work in outpatient treatment settings—such as case managers, care navigators, recovery coaches, direct support professionals, and peer specialists—who understand care plans and risk levels are better able to support patients in care. AMSR-Direct Care Outpatient training ensures that treatment teams of clinicians and direct care staff can speak the same risk assessment and management language to provide consistent, effective care.

Cost? $50/per person (includes training manual). Credit cards or checks accepted (Checks can be made and sent to Hope Network - 3075 Orchard Vista Dr. SE Grand Rapids, MI 49546)

Time? 8:30am-12:30pm.
