Description:

Join us on Friday, May 24 from 7-9pm at Assemble to create your own Functional Clay Vessels!

Students will be asked to bring in a few objects that we can use as centerpieces to our designs. We can brainstorm functions we are looking to fill in our lives and create based on need. We will be pinching and coiling, and soft slab building; covering some fundamental handbuilding skills in clay. Students will have the chance to choose a glaze to finish their work with.

21+ Nights include instruction, materials, drinks and snacks. Free tickets are available for Garfield residents, with a selected number of scholarship tickets also available to anyone for whom full-price tickets are prohibitive!

Ticket prices for 21+ Nights cover the cost of staff time, materials, and food & beverages. Any amount made beyond these expenses goes towards supporting Assemble’s free STEAM programs, such as afterschool and summer camps!

Artist Bio:

Eva Conrad is an artist whose work is part of the current resurgence of the pattern and decoration movement, and intentionally straddles contemporary art and craft traditions; through an interest in the history of creating beyond necessity. They weave patterns in and out of their ceramic sculpture and paintings repetitively as meditation on systems of being. Her work emerges in the world as a reflection on beautiful moments of attentive introspection, intuition and curious play amid seemingly rigid binary systems.
