OUR PROGRAM

N ote: This program is only for K-5 teachers.

ASM Materials Camp® for K-5 teachers if a 4-day professional development that provides experiences for K-5 teachers to become comfortable doing hands-on science. Activities and labs are geared toward generating enthusiasm and excitement while allaying fears. The NGSS science and engineering processes and the cross-cutting concepts are emphasized as the labs are done by the participants. Materials science (and other physical science) concepts are utilized in the labs, demonstrations and activities.

Monday - Thursday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

Teachers leave our camps able to engage students using simple, low-cost experiments that integrate into existing lesson plans.

Participants are eligible to receive three (3) Continuing Education Units(CEUs) and can opt for two (2) graduate level credits.

A $1,200 value, the camp is FREE for attendees. Participants are eligible to receive four (4) Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and can opt for two (2) graduate level credits.(NOTE! Option for graduate credits is not available for Virtual Materials Camps.)

Educators work hands-on with metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites, and develop a greater appreciation for the importance of these materials in modern life.

Teachers Camp is a proven program that strengthens the curriculum in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Post-camp evaluations reveal that 97% of participants will incorporate the experiments and concepts learned in their classrooms.
