Horseshoe crabs are an important part of marine eco-systems. These aquatic roombas haven't evolved for over 400 million years, when dinosaurs still roamed the earth. They are essientally a living fossil, meaning we have so much to learn from them. Explore the shore to find out how horseshoe crabs are monitored during their mating season in Jamaica Bay and why we work to protect them.
Join us along Fresh Creek at the Penn Water Access Area on Saturday, May 24th, 2025 from 2pm to 3pm.
All materials are provided. Please dress for the weather and wear shoes you don't mind getting muddy!
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Registration not required.
The Penn Water Access Area is about 0.25 miles, or a 5-10 minute walk, from the Penn Parking Lot. This program will include a short walking portion on sand.
