Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. Participants do not need any formal training to attend the workshop.

DATES: Sept 9 - 10, 2024 (Monday - Tuesday). Attendance on both days is required.

TIME: Class is from 9am -5pm each day. Please plan to arrive between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. so that you can get checked in before class each day, especially on the first day. There is construction nearby, so please allow extra time to account for this.

TRAINING LOCATION: The Steven A Cohen Military Family Clinic at Metrocare located at 16160 Midway Rd, Suite 218, Addison, TX 75001. The office number is 469-680-3500. Parking is free.

MINIMUM AGE FOR ATTENDEES IS 18.

MEALS AND SNACKS: Lunch will be provided both days. If you have dietary requirements or restrictions, we suggest you bring your own meal. Drinks and snacks will also be available.

NO COST TO ATTEND. ASIST is offered at no cost to you thanks to the funding support for instructors, venue, materials and other expenses provided by the Steven A Cohen Clinic at Metrocare and Military Veteran Peer Network (MVPN). Additional support is provided by the Suicide Prevention and Brain Health (SPBH) Rotary eClub (spbhrotary.org) and StopOne (stopone.info).
