The World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA) invites you to attend a high-level panel as a part of their flagship global sustainability conference on the role of business action towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), hosted in Bangkok, Thailand – the Allies Assembly on June 12, 2024.

Out of the 2000 most influential companies in the world with the power to create a sustainable world, 22 are headquartered in Thailand and 107 in South East Asia. With this massive influence, Asian stakeholders are playing a critical role in implementing the SDGs by mobilising business to act. With the theme of ‘Bridging the Global-Local Gap in Delivering the SDGs’, this conference will bring together local, regional and international stakeholders to contribute towards this change.

Brief on the panel: The recent UNESCAP 2024 SDG Progress Report paints a stark picture: at the current rate of progress in Asia and the Pacific, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are projected to only be achieved by 2062, a sobering revelation underscoring the immense work that lies ahead. Despite slow progress, it remains true that the 2030 Agenda for Development is as relevant today as it was in 2015. All stakeholders - countries, investors, policymakers, civil society, academia, business – have an equally important role to play to accelerate the pathways to progress. This high level panel with dive into the massive influence and role of the stakeholders in this region to spearhead efforts to drive sustainable business action towards the Global Goals.
