Artist's Block Workshop (Cancelled)

The Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center is a multi-purpose cultural space in the Southeast community of Newport News, Virginia. Originally built as the Walter Reed School in 1917, our historic building has been restored and open to the public since October 2008.In addition to the 276-seat Ella Fitzgerald Theater, we haverooms for meetings and events, as well as studio space for visual and performing arts. The Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center is a facility of theCity of Newport Newsdepartment of Parks, Recreation and Tourism.

This workshop caters to creatives of all ages who are interested in being able to freely flow in their talents.

Dates: October 3-5, 2022Time: 5:00pm - 7:00pmAges: 13 and up Students will learn:October 3, 2022- Intro to creativity &amp; recovering a sense of safety October 4, 2022- Recovering a sense of identity &amp; recovering a sense of powerOctober 5, 2022- Recovering a sense of abundance Michael Lewis Corder III, also known as “Chorder” is an African American composer, musician, producer, and artist who has been highly recognized for his talents in music production and music performance. Born and raised in Nashville, TN, Chorder has studied music since the age of four, and is now a graduate of Hampton University, a classical and jazz keyboardist and percussionist, as well as an accomplished music producer and creative entrepreneur.End of class Deliverable: A piece of art of the student’s creation
