Professor Dr. Oliver Bendel has been teaching and researching at the FHNW University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland since 2009. He studied philosophy and German language and literature as well as information science. His doctoral thesis was related to conversational agents in learning environments. Bendel has been thinking on animal ethics since the 1980s and on information and machine ethics since the 1990s. Since 2012, he has been systematically researching machine ethics, combining it with animal ethics and animal welfare. With his changing teams, he develops animal-friendly robots and AI systems.

Sam Tucker is a dedicated animal rights advocate with over 14 years of experience in the movement. With a background as the Australia and New Zealand Outreach Manager for Vegan Outreach, Sam has spent more than 5 years actively promoting veganism and fighting for the welfare of animals. Combining his passion for animal rights with expertise in digital marketing and artificial intelligence, Sam founded VEG3, a vegan-focused AI marketing tool. This innovative platform is designed to help vegan businesses and animal rights charities grow and scale online by generating personalized marketing content and strategies.

Tse Yip Fai is an AI Ethics Researcher at Princeton University. He is a research assistant for Professor Peter Singer at Princeton University, researching the impact and ethics of artificial intelligence concerning nonhuman animals. Prior to that, he carried out research in the fields of animal welfare advocacy and effective altruism. He has served as an advisor to the Open Philanthropy Project on grant making to tackle factory farming and was a 2021 Foresight Fellow in Animal Ethics for Artificial Intelligence. Fai’s publications include “AI ethics: the case for including animals”, a groundbreaking paper co-authored with Peter Singer and published in AI and Ethics, a leading peer-reviewed journal in the field of AI Ethics.
