<P>After decades of steady advancement, Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods are poised to demonstrate human-level performance in a variety of tasks including translating languages, driving trucks, designing building architectures, creating art, evaluating forensic evidence, making investment decisions, write best-sellers, etc. This talk by renowed computer scientist and SUNY distinguished professor Sargur "Hari" Srihari will describe principles of current generation of AI methods, which are based on a methodology known as deep learning, and how they differ from previous AI methods, which focused on modeling human expertise. The talk will provide a glimpse of a current deep learning research endeavor - that of learning representations of complex data where variables are disentangled and decision making is simplified.</P>
