ARTbar is a signature music event at Heights Arts where locally-recognized sound is mixed with creative cocktails for a celebration surrounded by art!

Jeremey Poparad is a guitarist, bassist, composer, and educator in the Northeast Ohio area. As a performer, Jeremey regularly appears with jazz and rock groups as well as classical ensembles and in musical theatre pit orchestras. He performs regularly as co-principal double bass for the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra, musical theatre productions at the Cleveland Playhouse, Canton Players Guild, and Porthouse Theatres, with jazz big bands such as the Danjo Orchestra, and as a band leader with his own ensembles. He also frequently tours across the United States with the soul-funk group Bassel and the Supernaturals. Jeremey leads and composes music for the progressive rock band Axon-Neuron, the electronic-jazz group Volt Meter, the hybrid classical-jazz group Janus Ensemble, as well as a French-gypsy jazz group The Hot Club of Akron. As an educator, he teaches privately and as an adjunct professor at Kent State University, Ashland University, the University of Mount Union, and Lakeland Community College and has published transcriptions and lessons through Premier Guitar magazine and Mel Bay Publications ("Ben Monder Compositions, Volume 1"). Jeremey is currently pursuing a PhD in music theory and composition and has presented his doctoral research nationally and internationally, including at the 2023 International Conference for Music Perception and Cognition (ICMPC) in Tokyo, Japan and the 2021 ICMPC virtual conference.

He is joined by bassist Aidan Plank and percussionist Anthony Taddeo for this ARTbar.

Heights Arts is a nonprofit community arts organization in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Founded in 2000, Heights Arts cultivates a strong, diverse, and collaborative arts community by inspiring people of all ages to engage in the arts; supporting the arts through education; providing exhibition and performance opportunities; and fostering public appreciation for the arts.

The community’s proximity to University Circle, home to cultural destinations in Cleveland which include the Cleveland Museum of Art and Severance Hall, has created a place rich with artists, performers, art educators, administrators and others who make their livelihood in the performing or visual arts.

We contribute to the region’s artistic vitality by showing regional artists at Heights Arts Gallery, facilitating public art and design projects, presenting chamber music and other concerts in intimate settings, nominating and supporting the Cleveland Heights Poet Laureate, and having classes and workshops in the arts. As a multidisciplinary arts organization, we tap into the potential of our creative residents to enrich community life.
