About this event

  • 1 hour

In anticipation of Akron's Founder's Day, Conesville-based artist and pastor, Peter Wolfgang will present Spiritus Contra Spiritum—a visual and sound installation project focusing on the process of addiction to recovery. Partnered with NYC-based Sound Artist and Composer John Atkinson, with video art by Chicago artist Amanda Vanvalkenburg, Spiritus Contra Spiritum is an immersive audio/visual experience that takes the viewer and listener through the despair and, ultimately, hope found on the journey of addiction recovery. Before the presentation, Senior Curator Jeff Katzin will highlight works in our Michelangelo Lovelace: Art Saved My Life exhibition that covers these same topics from the socially conscious, community-based perspective commonly found in Lovelace's work.
