Join us for a night of movement and connection to channel our inner creativity.

Encinitas 4 Equality Mulicultural Collective

This collaboration will be with the incredibly talented Maya M Joshi who is a visual artist and graphic designer. During this event we will be using the power of music to guide us through the process of creation. Our hope is to inspire you on your own creative journey. Pre-sketched canvas will include a dancing figures that illustrate our own cultural experiences. Takeaways will be a new way of experiencing art through movement.All painting supplies will be provided, you bring your curiosity + creativity + open mind + heart to connect with others over art, drinks &amp; nature. We will also be having a (paid) raffle to receive art during this event. It’s a diasporic dance done in South American countries like Suriname and French Guyana. They use the communication of the drums and the dancers to pass down stories.Perreo is basically twerking done to reggaetón specifically from Puerto Rico. I thought twerking should be include in some way since pretty much any Afro descendent population has this dance in some form and is very much a symbol of connection in the diaspora through dance.Merengue típico is one of the most traditional form of music and dance in the Dominican Republic. It is the national music and dance of the island and for the typical dance it’s done in the traditional dress illustrated.
