Our online Summer Academy Program offers hands-on, online courses taught by our faculty and experts in a variety of professional fields, including architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, construction management, and real estate development. This internship-style experience is a great way to explore multiple professional fields while participating in design projects, research projects, and professional firm visits.
Jefferson’s College of Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) pre-college experience is a 1- to 4- week-long summer design experience (week 1-3 online, week 4 on-campus) exploring the architectural design and construction fields including architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, construction management, and real estate development. Our online Summer Academy Summer Program offers hands-on courses taught by our faculty and experts in the industry, with connections to our current students, alumni, and industry mentors. Learn through participating in week-long design projects, activities, research projects, and professional firm visits.
Students will:
- Learn how to solve and communicate real-world design problems by exploring different disciplines.
- Learn 2D + 3D analog and digital representation techniques, and learn how to build models.
- Learn foundational design principles such as color, pattern, form, and composition.
- Explore topics such as history and theory, professional practice, and technology.
- Get to know our undergraduate programs in the architectural disciplines.
The Architecture and the Built Environment Spring Academy is an online experience and will be held daily for five (5) hours, 10:00AM to 3:00PM Eastern Standard Time. All classes are held online, live via Zoom.
SUMMER ACADEMY On Campus: We welcome students to our East Fall Campus for a weeklong, non-residency Summer Academy studio experience from August 4 to 8, 10:00AM to 4:00PM. A Career Discovery Week course is a prerequisite to enroll.
PROGRAM FEE
- $50 non-refundable fee
- $300 per course/week
- Fee includes a supply kit shipped to the student.
We want to make sure that program fees do not pose a barrier for any student who wishes to attend. if you feel that your financial circumstances might qualify you for a program fee waiver, please submit your Statement of Financial Need before June 1.
COURSE CANCELLATION:
All courses require a minimum enrollment of six (6) students for a course to remain. Our team will keep as many courses as enrollment allows, and inform students potential schedule changes or consolidations to ensure students can attend as many courses as requested. If a course is cancelled, we will refund your course fee.
