Come prepare for the application process and, if selected, the cohort.
The Prerequisite Workshops are scheduled between July 6th and July 30th, 2026, from 6 to 8 pm PT, and are tailored to help interested pre-applicants prepare for the application process and, if selected, Techtonica's Software Engineering Program. In order to maximize the effectiveness of these workshops, you will be required to attend a minimum of 4 sessions throughout the entire series.
By joining the workshops, you will be able to gain the necessary skills or information that will set you up for success by helping you meet the minimum entry requirements. We also want to support applicants who have never been exposed to coding, online self-directed learning, or those who learn differently, to have more time with concepts.
Some of the topics we will be covering include:
- Basic arithmetic understanding & rules of logic (i.e., truth tables)
- Willingness to use and showcase critical thinking skills
- Mac Basics: touchpad, common key commands, app usage
- Computer Usage: Touch Typing, Email, Browser, & Software
- Remote work etiquette
In case you need to rent out a MacBook for a fee, please book a laptop ticket in addition to the event ticket, and we will contact you with further details. Please note that it is not a guarantee that you will get a laptop allocation once you request one, as it will be based on several considerations.
You'll need a laptop, a camera, Zoom, and a freeCodeCamp account set up. We will send out the Zoom video call link before the event. Please watch for a Google Calendar invitation with a Zoom link to the meeting in your email.
There may be photography and videography at this event. By registering, you give Techtonica permission to use images or videos that may include you, and to contact you about future Techtonica-related topics, and you agree to Techtonica's Code of Conduct.
