Learn one of the oldest crafts in human history—basket weaving—as you create your own beautiful and functional apple picking basket from natural reeds. For thousands of years, cultures around the world have used basketry to craft durable, everyday vessels from materials close at hand. In this hands-on class, you’ll carry on that tradition while gaining the skills to make your own sturdy, attractive basket to take home and use for years to come. Join us in making a sturdy basket designed for carrying apples or any other fruit. It will be built with a swing handle to make it easy to carry. Size is 12" in diameter and 7" high.Instructor: Debby HalsteadInstructor Contact: debhallac@gmail.comInstructor Bio: I have been crafting &amp; creating since I can remember, first learning to crochet at the age of 9, then being taught to knit by my grandmother and how to sew by my mother. I took a basket making class 30 years ago and fell in love with the process and especially the end product. I soon began selling the baskets at a local shop and teaching classes. I'm excited to share this craft with others. I've been homesteading for many years creating as much as I can a self-sufficient lifestyle, raising chickens and tending to various gardens of vegetables, herbs, and flowers.Open to ages 18 and older.Class needs a minimum of 2 attendees to run.Class available for up to 8 attendees.Registration closes three (3) days before the event.Attendees can receive refunds up to 7 days before your event start date.Active members receive 25% off using their discount code or Member Discount ticket.
