<p>This year, StreamNative is pleased to host the first-ever Pulsar Hackathon. The goal of the event is to engage the Pulsar community, drive contributions, and generate ideas to enhance Pulsar and its ecosystem. Whether you’re a Pulsar newbie or expert, join us and showcase your creativity and skills!</p><h2>Timeline (All times listed in PST):</h2><p>April 28, 2021 - Registration Deadline</p><p>May 6-7, 2021 - Hackathon</p><ul><li>May 6, 9:00 AM - Virtual Live Kick Off - <a href="https://streamnative.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_RRHVA8I7RBGWI85-4KTlrA" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Join Here</a>!</li><li>May 6, 9:15 AM - 10 PM - Hacking Time</li><li>May 7, 9:00 AM - 10 PM - Hacking Time</li><li>May 7, 11:59 PM -  Video Submission Deadline - <a href="https://share.hsforms.com/100ewbipSRmi4mLM9MO75Cw3x5r4" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Submit here</a>!</li></ul><p>June 16-17, 2021 -  Winners Announced at the <a href="https://hopin.com/events/pulsar-summit-north-america-2021" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Pulsar Virtual Summit North America 2021</a></p><h2>Hackathon Categories:</h2><p>To help inspire you, we’ve created five categories for this year’s hackathon:</p><ul><li><strong>Pulsar Enhancement</strong>: adding new features, improving performance, etc.</li><li><strong>Pulsar + Big Data Ecosystem Integration</strong>: integrating Pulsar with other influential data systems for easy usage</li><li><strong>Pulsar + Flink Solution</strong>: developing end-to-end general data processing solutions based on Pulsar and Apache Flink</li><li><strong>Pulsar + Cloud</strong>: enabling Pulsar to run on cloud environments easily and seamlessly</li><li><strong>BookKeeper Enhancement: </strong>adding new features, improving performance, etc.</li></ul><h2>Prizes:</h2><ul><li><strong>First-place: $5,000</strong></li><li>Second-place: $2,500</li><li>Third-place: $1,000</li><li>Pulsar and StreamNative swag</li></ul><h2>How to Participate:</h2><ul><li>Sign up!  You can sign up solo or as a team with up to four people. If you already have the team you will be working with and your idea, register now!  (To register  your team, click on the dropdown next to &quot;General Admission&quot; and select the correct number of tickets - one for each team member. The max video length is ten minutes, maximum playback resolution is 1920 x 1080. </li></ul><ul><li><strong>To upload your video submission</strong>, please complete <a href="https://share.hsforms.com/100ewbipSRmi4mLM9MO75Cw3x5r4" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">this form</a> and follow the redirect to add your video to the designated Google Drive folder.</li></ul><ul><li>Note: You cannot use pre-existing code but you can connect to pre-existing code and build new stuff on top of existing functionality.</li></ul><h2>Project Requirements:</h2><ul><li>You will be judged on three criteria:  <strong>Innovation, Utility / Applicability, Difficulty</strong></li><li>The three factors will be weighed equally. Remember to describe what you did for each criterion during the demo.</li><li>Don’t worry about having perfect code. Hacking is about playing around, making mistakes, and learning new things. If your code isn’t production ready, we’re not going to mark you down.</li><li>You are not judged on the quality of your pitch, you are judged on what you built. Hacking is about building and learning, not about selling. You should focus primarily on the demo in your video.</li><li>You are not required to open source your project in order to participate, but you do have to publish your code under an open source license in order to be eligible for the prizes.</li><li>By submitting your video, you agree to have it published on the StreamNative YouTube channel.</li></ul><h2>Want to polish  your Pulsar skills?
