Sulfur Studios is the flagship project of Arts Southeast, whose mission is to make Savannah a destination for art and culture in the Southeast by supporting established and emerging artists and engaging a diverse community with creative programming by developing awareness and appreciation of the arts.

Join us for the Reception for &quot;Another Realm&quot; on Friday, February 12th from 6 - 9PM.&quot;Another Realm,&quot; is a group exhibition featuring Ruth Sykes, Faran Riley, and Sally Mayer Seidl. Through traditional 2-dimensional media, these artists render the intangible, reaching beyond physical reality in search of the ephemeral, spiritual, and temporal. With keen obsession, they sift through the fog and bring back traces of nature, of bodies, of the passage of time. These meditative searches manifest themselves in the physical layering of media - in some cases hyper-detailed, in others, gestural, distressed, and abstracted. Taken together, the body of work in this exhibition invites us to consider the fantastical within our midst.Faran Riley makes “intense drawings of overgrown gardens mixed with undersea reef-like foliage. They’re fantastical and have some hidden figures within them, cats and fish and unknown creatures” (Faran Riley, Interview with Jordan Ashley). Sally Mayer Seidl produces “narrative works exploring the nature of humanity and the mortal condition, often expressed through gestural line work and distressed layering evocative of dissipating memories and non-linear time” (Sally Mayer Seidl, Bio). Ruth Sykes “creates meticulously lush illustrations in mixed media, of organic interwoven fibrous shapes on paper or panels.” (Sulfur Studios Co-Founder Jennifer Moss on Ruth Sykes).&quot;Another Realm&quot; will be on display in the Gallery at Sulfur Studios from February 11th - February 21st, 2021.
