Annie Sloan® Chalk Paint® Workshop: Bring Your Own Piece

It’s our staff’s favorite workshop - bring in your own piece and give it a new life. Learn how to create a smooth finish with your favorite color and wax combination! New to Chalk Paint®? No worries! We will guide you through the process from beginning to end! We are sure you’ll walk away with a gorgeous hand-painted masterpiece!

WHAT WE WILL COVER IN CLASS:

Basic Paint Application: How to get the paint on your piece correctly.

Flat Finish: This is the new modern finish everyone is asking for. We'll teach you the best ways to create that classic flat finish.

Distressing: This isn't for everyone, but we'll cover the best methods and techniques as well as where distressing looks best on furniture. In the interest of time, distressing will be restricted to edges only. If you're interested in heavier distress, please plan on making those adjustments to your piece at home.

Sealing Your Piece: How to seal and protect your furniture with Annie Sloan® Clear Wax, including what tools are best as well as our expert tips and tricks.

Accent Your Piece: Get the facts on aging your piece with Annie Sloan's colored waxes - dark, black, and white. (Heavy or all-over accent waxing can be demonstrated, but because we are limited on time, please plan on adding more wax to your piece at home.)

Aftercare: Learn the importance of letting your finish cure, and how to care for and maintain your finished piece once you get it home.

VERY IMPORTANT GUIDLINES TO REVEIW:

• Bring a small piece of furniture (with a footprint no larger than 24″ x 20") or two to three small kitchen cabinet doors. Small tables are ideal for this class, or perhaps cupboard doors or drawers from a larger piece you'd like to paint at home. If you can’t carry the piece in by yourself, unassisted, and in one trip, it’s too big! We reserve the right to refuse pieces too large for completion in this workshop and will reschedule you for another date.
• No chairs please as it takes longer to paint and we want you to keep up and finish the class!
• This workshop is for wooden furniture or cabinets only. Due to extra drying time requirements, laminate, melamine, ceramic and metal surfaces are not recommended for this class.
• This class teaches the process of finishing your product with wax. Please bring a piece for interior use. Finishing your peice with waxing is essential to a successful piece. We do not recommend bringing an outdoor piece and/or a item that requires the finish of lacqure.
• Pieces that have slats, multiple spindles, or shutters take a lot time! Best to avoid bringing them.
• You will be using our Annie Sloan® paint and supplies! You will choose one (1) Chalk Paint® color from our fabulous 45 color choices. We highly recommend you review Annie Sloan® Chalk Paint® colors and have an idea on what color you would like to paint your peice. If you are undecided, we can help.
• Custom color mixing or layering colors is not covered in this class (you can learn that in our 102 Workshop: Techniques for Design & Style workshop).
• Accidents happen, so please no mirrors or glass.
• MOST IMPORTANT - this is a hands-on workshop, please come dressed to paint!

We recommend you arrive 15 minutes early to claim your space and setup as it helps to move things along.

The workshop fee is per person. Due to space constraints in our workshop area, we ask that your friend, soulmate, children, mom, etc. should not plan to attend unless they purchase a workshop ticket and bring their own piece as well. Thank you for understanding.

The fee for this class is $145, prepayment is required. This workshop runs 3 to 4 hours. There will be 2 small breaks with snacks and water provided.
