Event description

Description

Ange Albertini, author of https://code.google.com/archive/p/corkami/, will teach us in drawing with inkscape and designing a binary poster. If you haven't seen his posters yet, you should definitely check them out at https://github.com/corkami/pics. But he will not only teach you how to create such binary posters yourself, it will basically introduce you to handy skills like
- convert pictures you've taken of a whiteboard to a clean picture (for when you need to run out of a meeting and want to nicely transform that picture you took in a hurry to something usable)
- convert a bitmap to a vector (for when you want to decorate your slides when no nice picture is elsewhere found or when you want to put your favorite picture on a tshirt or sticker)
- quickly convert charts to vector (for when you want to quote an external blog in your slides or paper and all you have is an ugly JPG)
- import, edit and re-export PDF drawings (for when you want to quote a picture or chart from a PDF article but with some specific improvements and keep it as a vector to re-include it in your article)
- draw an outline of something (for when you want to add a picture to a paper, but its quality is very poor)

Requirements: bring a laptop with inkscape and gimp installed, a mouse (if you prefer working with an external mouse) and an idea of something to draw.

The costs are for renting the room, cover some drinks, and food for lunch.
