The concept:

It’s time that the Eastern Shore Drive corridor creates its own identity. For too long, Lynnhaven Beach and the Bayfront community that sits on its south has been called Chick’s Beach. It’s not, and locals know that. With that in mind, our community needs its own identity to engage the city and public, not just lumped into some generic title of Chick’s Beach as the whole northern shore of the city. The neighborhoods of Eastern Shore Drive—Lynnhaven Colony, Lynn Shores, Marina Shores, Bay Island, Cape Story, Cape Henry Shores—all make up a community that anchors the northeastern half of the city together with a unique mariner-meets-beach-dweller lifestyle that gives the community its flavor. The best seafood restaurants and markets, the marinas, the beach accesses, the docks—it’s not Chic’s Beach, it’s not Ocean Park, its not Chick’s Beach, it’s the anchor district of northern Virginia Beach. Anchorfest is here as a community event to tie together businesses, residents, city representatives, and community infrastructure into one event that will help create a community image, a concept that will drive the city to invest more in the section of Virginia Beach that has been too long ignored. By creating an identity, we as a community can create a district that the city will finally recognize as valuable to culture and deserving of investment. The city has spent too much money on the ViBe, the resort area, Old Beach, Town Center, and the North End, it’s time the concept of the Anchor of Virginia Beach be recognized and celebrated as a fundamental feature of Virginia Beach.

Tickets will be for sale beginning April 5, 2026, $55 in advance, with all proceeds benefiting one of our most cherished institutions on Shore Dr—Ocean Park Volunteer Rescue Squad. Proceeds will also benefit Fight CF, a new sponsor of the event, another local organization that fundraises to find treatments and cures for Cystic Fibrosis. Ocean Park has long been the guardian of our beaches and streets, procuring the equipment necessary to provide beach rescue and our area’s only rescue dive team.
