About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

Forest Bathing or Therapy is inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku or translated – Shinrin (forest) and yoku (bathing) which is the conscious and contemplative experience of opening all the senses in a natural setting and taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of nature. Walks led by a certified guide include a series of invitations to connect with nature, sharing circles, and conclude with a sense of calm and balance. Research from around the world has shown that Forest Therapy has highly positive affects on a person's physical and mental health, lowering anxiety and depression, while boosting the immune system.

In this session, Christine Tappan of BirchWalking Nature Connectedness and Wellness will introduce you to the history and practice of forest bathing, explain its goals and benefits, and lead you on a condensed walk through portions of the gardens so you can sample the experience of forest bathing.
