Join us for a special free event at the Berkeley City Club on Sunday, June 2, 2024 following the Bay Area Book Festival just down the street! Get a taste of Road Scholar’s keystone educational content with a complimentary literary lecture from local author and Road Scholar instructor James Dalessandro. Plus get a chance to connect with fellow travelers in your area, learn about our exciting learning adventures, and have your questions answered from Road Scholar staff and alumni in person. We’ll even help you enroll in a program if you’re ready.

Whether you're a seasoned traveler or new to the world of educational travel, this FREE event is perfect for anyone who loves to explore the world and make new friends. Food, wine and learning included!

Featured Expert: James Dalessandro is a writer and filmmaker best known for his novel '1906,' a retelling of that year's earthquake in San Francisco. He has more than 20 feature film and television scripts to his credit. He wrote and directed 'The Damnedest Finest Ruins,' a documentary on the earthquake. In his adopted hometown of San Francisco, James lectures on the Transcontinental Railroad, Old Chinatown, and the Golden Gate Bridge as well as the history of its artists: Mark Twain, Jack London, Isadora Duncan and the Beat Generation. James has lectured to Road Scholars on dozens of topics for 15+ years.

Is there a cost to attend this event?

Nope! This event is free for the first 100 guests who register. Please make sure you complete your registration and RSVP to save your spot.

Where can I find parking?

Street parking is free all day Sunday. Pay Lots/Garages -The Metropolitan Garage 2315 Ellsworth Street, Berkeley or Douglas Parking (Trinity Lot) 2362 Bancroft Way, Berkeley

Will there be food and drinks?

Yes! We will have light bites and drinks available during the welcome reception from 5:30-6:15 PM.

Is the Berkley City Club wheelchair accessible?

Yes, when looking at the hotel entrance there is an ADA Entrance to the left. After entering, make the first right and run into the elevator at the end of the hallway. Take the elevator to the 2nd Floor.
