An Evening with Mo Rocca

Magic City Books is thrilled to welcome Mo Rocca back to Tulsa for an event in celebration of his new book, Roctogenarians, on Thursday June 27. The event will start at 7pm and will be hosted at The Synagogue | Congregation B’nai Emunah (located at 17th and Peoria).

This is a ticketed event, each ticket comes with one (1) hardcover copy of Roctogenarians ($28.99 value) by Mo Rocca and one (1) seat at the event on June 27.

In the vein of Mobituaries, Roctogenarians is a collection of entertaining and unexpected profiles of late in life achievers--some long gone (a cancer-stricken Henri Matisse, who began work on his celebrated cut-outs when he could no longer paint), some very much still living (Mel Brooks, yukking it up at close to one hundred).

Tickets are on sale Thursday May 23, Roctogenarians will be published by Simon & Schuster on June 11, 2024. Ticket holders will be able to pick up their copy of the book at Magic City Books starting June 11. Books will also be available for pickup at the event on June 27.

All tickets include a copy of the book, there is a limit of four tickets per transaction. Please provide the full name and email address of each ticket holder so that all event notifications and information can be sent to all attendees.

If you have a ticket and are unable to attend the event, you will be able to pick up your book at Magic City Books during normal business hours. The last day for ticket holders to pick up Roctogenarians by Mo Rocca is Friday, August 9, 2024. We will make an efort to have signed books available for pick up but can not guarantee a signed copy.

Then there's Peter Mark Roget, who began working on his thesaurus in his twenties and completed it at seventy-three (because sometimes finding the right word takes time.)

With passion and wonder Rocca and Greenberg recount the stories of yesterday's and today's strongest finishers. Because with all due respect to the Golden Girls, some people will never be content sitting out on the lanai. (PS Actress Estelle Getty was sixty-two when she got her big break. And yes, she's in the book.)

Mo Rocca is a correspondent for CBS Sunday Morning, host of the hit Mobituaries podcast, and host of The Henry Ford's Innovation Nation. Jonathan Greenberg is a professor of English at Montclair State University and the author of two books of literary criticism along with many articles and essays. He is also an Emmy Award-winning screenwriter who has written for children's shows including Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, and Arthur. He is the coauthor of Mobituaries.
