An Address by H.E. Boris Pistorius, German Minister of Defense “Steadfast, Capable, and Ready: Germany’s Security Renaissance and Transatlantic Defense”

Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies and the American-German Institute are proud to host German Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius, who will deliver keynote remarks entitled “Steadfast, Capable, and Ready: Germany’s Security Renaissance and Transatlantic Defense” detailing Germany’s approach to international security and the transatlantic partnership. This event will take place from 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM in the Theater at the Hopkins Bloomberg Center located at 555 Pennsylvania Ave. NW in Washington, DC. Doors open at 2:30 PM.

Minister Pistorius will be welcomed by SAIS Dean James B. Steinberg. After introductions, Minister Pistorius will deliver prepared remarks, followed by a discussion moderated by Jeff Rathke, President of AGI.

About the Speaker

Boris Pistorius took office as Minister of Defense on January 19, 2023. The Minister of Defense is the commander-in-chief of the German armed forces. A member of the Social Democratic Party, Minister Pistorius previously served as the Minister of Interior and Sport in the state of Lower Saxony from 2013 to 2023 and as Mayor of the city of Osnabrück from 2006 to 2013.
