Event description
This session will provide technical assistance on using American Rescue Plan funds to fund violence prevention programs.

About this event

The North Carolina Task Force on Racial Equity in Criminal Justice and the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners are sponsoring technical assistance sessions to provide assistance on three American Rescue Plan funding solutions that address both criminal justice reform and COVID-19 related mitigation and behavioral health needs.

Violence prevention programs, such as Bull City United in Durham, include community- and hospital-based programs that approach violence as a public health problem and provide solutions including mediation, mentoring, job training, and counseling. These programs offer an approach focusing on preventing violent crime before it happens.

This session will focus on using American Rescue Plan funding to support violence prevention programs. Expert panelists will detail the success of current programs in North Carolina, and outline how American Rescue Plan funding can support violence prevention programs.
