Description
The Amazon Day is being convened on September 19th during the International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD) organized by UN-SDSN at Columbia University. The ICSD thematic for this year is "The World in 2050: Looking Ahead for Sustainable Development" and the Amazon Day will discuss challenges and solutions, as well as explore the pathways for the sustainable development for Amazon region in 2050.
The Amazon Day is led by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network for the Amazonia (SDSN-Amazonia) and supported by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN-SDSN), UN-Environmental, the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, Organization of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty (ACTO), Instituto de Investigacíon de la Amazonía Peruana (IIAP), Instituto Amazónico de Investigaciones Científicas SINCHI and Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Amazônicas (INPA).
The main objective is to connect diverse stakeholders to debate to share knowledge on achieving the SDGs at low cost, low carbon footprint, open and free access solutions, making feasible the broad involvement of the public and a wider exchange of experiences.
