Thank you for attending the annual Spring Bash fundraiser sponsored by Altrusa of Mansfield. Proceeds benefit our community service projects: Tools for Schools: Over 1.46 million school supplies have been donated in the past 20 years. This school year 128,000+ supplies have been distributed to over 460 teachers in 35 schools in Richland County for students in need. First Read to Succeed: Each month Altrusa members visit all first grade classrooms in Richland County public schools to read to the students and provide them with a new book to take home. Over 1100 books are given each month. Buddy Bags: Altrusa supplies "Buddy Bags" filled with toys, books, hygiene supplies and snacks for students identified as homeless. Little Free Library: Altrusa purchased 500+ new books this year and collaborated with Mansfield City Schools to build two "Little Free Library" structures. Libraries are restocked weekly. Buckeye Imagination Museum: Altrusa purchased the museum's community bulletin board and is a co-sponsor for the planned Imagination District Storyboard Walk . Madison Adult Education and Mansfield Adult Education: Altrusa provided $1,000 to each program to cover GED test fees and transportation needs. Marilou Schwan Memorial Scholarship: Altrusa provides a scholarship each year to a graduating Mansfield Senior High student in memory of a Charter Member of Mansfield Altrusa. Domestic Violence Shelter: Altrusa purchased comforters, pillows and bed linens and regularly donates personal hygiene items. Dewald Center: Altrusa donates new books to the children’s library and provides volunteers at Family Nights. A reading bench was built in memory of an Altrusa member. Mind Sprouts Program: Altrusa co-sponsored this creative writing program for K-12 students at the Renaissance Theatre. First English Lutheran Early Learning Center: Altrusa provided books and materials to support their summer reading program. Coats for Kids: Altrusa collaborated with Mansfield Optimist Club and Ashley Furniture to collect new or gently used coats and winter accessories. Big Red Bookshelf: Altrusans sort and sticker books for this United Way program. The New Store: Altrusans volunteer to help children select clothing at scheduled dressing days. Mentoring in Ohio for Reading Excellence Tutoring Program: Altrusans were weekly reading tutors at Sherman Elementary. Altrusa was awarded Richland Area Chamber Small Non-Profit of the Year, 2022 for our great work!
