Alpha B(o)i!
Join stand-up comedian Maxx Eddy for his Work-In-Progress show about how he overcame male loneliness and became an alpha male!
"Maxx has always aspired to be an alpha male, despite many obstacles to mandom: he was a pipsqueak, a closeted bisexual, and he lived with his mom until he was 27. To compensate for his shortcomings, Maxx developed two infallible coping mechanisms: a Napoleonic complex and an internet addiction. He starts streaming on Twitch, building a small community of fellow lonely weirdos. But one day on Twitch, a Brazilian woman wanders into his chat (inexplicably, she turned out to be completely real), she and Maxx connect, and he seizes the opportunity to get offline and rendezvous with her in her home country. But when his insecurities begin to sour the romantic getaway, Maxx has to reevaluate what it means to be a “real man” and discover whether he can ever measure up.
This show explores the male loneliness epidemic through the story of a man seemingly allergic to masculinity. Through his travails to define the term for himself, Maxx discovers that his misguided pursuit of the masculine identity has caused him nothing but anxiety, pain and self-loathing. Through his hijinks, Maxx lays out a blueprint for struggling young men in the social media era. Those hijinks include: instigating physical confrontation at a karaoke bar, accidentally smoking PCP and picking a verbal fight with Christ the Redeemer, and more.
Maxx Eddy is a star on the rise in the North American stand-up comedy scene. In 2025, he was selected to perform at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal as a New Face (alongside Fringe staples like Dan Tiernan and Vittorio Angelone). In 2024, he was chosen as a featured performer at the 2024 Netflix is a Joke Festival. He released his first mini-special with Don’t Tell Comedy in March 2025, and he recorded a set with SiriusXM/Netflix is a Joke Radio in late 2023.
Maxx’s act focuses on his experience as a bisexual boy in a straight man’s world, navigating his insecurities and overcompensation to hilarious (and often disastrous) effect. His curious, energetic delivery and sharp writing allow him to charm audiences of all ilks - he’s supported acts of myriad ilks on tour, from bombastic iconoclasts like Doug Stanhope and Tim Dillon to queer icons like Jinkx Monsoon.
Maxx will be taking this show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August - come watch the show before he hits the big time!"
