International House Davis is a community hub of international activity. Serving Yolo County since 1981, I-House builds community, fosters international exchange, and creates cultural connections through social events, gatherings, and programs.

<H4>Age and Ability: 16 years of age and older, any level</H4>
<P>The course is set up for 10 classes held over 10 weeks for an hour and a half each week.</P>
<P>Students may register for all classes in advance to recieve a discount. If you pre-register, the class is $60 for members and $70 for non-members.</P>
<P>Drop-in class cards are also available for $7 per class for members or $8 per class for non-members. Class cards can be purchased online and picked up at I-House.  </P>
<H3>Class Description</H3>
<P>The Brazilian art of Capoeira combines elements of martial arts, dance, acrobatics, fighting, playing and music into a dynamic game. The movements of capoeira include attacks and dodges or defenses, dance-like steps, and acrobatic tricks and flourishes. Capoeira is an intersection of dancing and fighting; a game, played to the rythms of the berimbau, other instruments, and customary songs. Students of capoeira learn basic Portuguese, the customs, philosophy, and traditional music of capoeira, and learn about Brazilian culture. Training capoeira improves poise, confidence, musical skills, strength and flexibility, and inspires self-reflection and creative expression. </P>

<P>Susan has been teaching Capoiera since 2006.</P>
