Hopkins’ Kindergarten for Families is a great opportunity to learn about strategies to prepare for your child’s kindergarten experience. During the discussion, incoming kindergarteners will have the opportunity to play with other children and possibly explore a kindergarten classroom.


Registration is required and space is limited. This event is for families who have a child enrolled in kindergarten at Alice Smith Elementary for the 2024-25 school year.

Who is this event for?

This event is for families who have a child enrolled in kindergarten at Alice Smith Elementary for the 2024-25 school year. If you have questions about your enrollment status, please contact the enrollment team at Enrollment@HopkinsSchools.org.

How is this different than other Hopkins year-before-kindergarten events that I've attended?

This event is geared toward giving families the strategies they need to prepare for the kindergarten experience. School-specific information will be provided by the principal and kindergarten teachers. Kindergarten readiness strategies will be discussed with an Early Childhood Parent Educator.

Why is there a limit on the number of incoming kindergarteners who may attend?

Due to the limitations of space, occupancy limits, and staffing, we must limit the number of children that can be part of the classroom activities.

What happens if there is a waitlist?

If your child is put on the waitlist, you will be notified via email if a spot opens up. You'll have 1 day to confirm before the offer moves to the next child on the list.
