After Hours at the Beekley: Revolutionary War Archaeology

​The dead had a story to tell. That much was certain as Dr. Nicholas F. Bellantoni, Connecticut’s emeritus state archaeologist, drove toward Ridgefield in December 2019. Days before, human skeletal remains were discovered under the foundation of an early-18th-century home that was being renovated. The state archaeology office was notified. Bellantoni was asked to lead an excavation of the site with help from Friends of the Office of State Archaeology and University of Connecticut graduate students.
