Afro Giving: A Home Away From Home is a warm, culture‑filled Thanksgiving gathering created by Black youth in the Okanagan to bring together students, newcomers, and young adults who may be far from family during the holiday season.
For just $10, attendees will enjoy an evening shaped by African food, music, storytelling, games, and shared traditions—an inviting space that feels less like an event and more like home. With conversation prompts, community icebreakers, and a vibrant mix of cultures represented through local Black caterers and entrepreneurs, Afro Giving offers comfort, connection, and a chance to celebrate both Canadian Thanksgiving and the rich identities we carry with us.
