Aero Workshop

The Hiller Aviation Museum is a non-profit 501(c)3 educational institution preserving the legacy of flight and provides inspiration for future generations.Over forty unique and innovative aircraft are on display.Realistic flight simulators and open aircraft cockpits (including the popular Boeing 747 exhibit) ensure that every visitor gains a pilot’s eye view of the world of aviation.

Hiller Aviation Museum

Put your engineering skills to the test in the Aero Workshop!  Each session is a special 2-hour mini design challenge designed for children ages 8-12.  Each workshop centers on a particular problem in aerospace illustrated by a pair of hands-on experiences.  Participants then work in small teams of 3-5 to design, build and test a working invention, then launching it in a culminating competition.
Aero Workshop participation is included in Museum admission (no charge to Members). Museum admission can be purchased in the museum gift shop. This FREE ticket only includes admission the the Aero Workshop and is not museum admission.
Sunday, May 20 Water Rockets 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Find out about Newton’s Third Law and the science of rocketry, then build and launch a unique water-powered rocket on a mission to achieve maximum flight time!
Sunday, June 17 Mars Landers 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Investigate the technologies used to land robots on alien worlds, then construct a device able to protect an instrumented payload from shock damage when dropped from altitude!
Sunday, July 29 Distance Gliders 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Discover the science of long-distance sailplane flight, then construct a flying model glider able to complete long, unpowered flights!
