About this event

Hennepin Healthcare Foundation returns with Adventurama, an urban experience in downtown Minneapolis. This fundraiser invites teams of two adults to complete challenges within a three-mile loop of HCMC. Teams earn points by completing both mental and physical challenges at 10 pit stops. This is not a timed course, go at your own pace and complete as many challenges as you like. You must be 18 years of age by or on June 8 to participate.

For 130 years and counting, Hennepin Healthcare has been a fixture in downtown Minneapolis serving the community. Our doors are open to all who need care. You count on us to lead during disasters, through pandemics, heart attacks and trauma. Now let's have fun.

Compete for a Cause

Your adventure makes an impact beyond event day. All proceeds from Adventurama support patient comfort and care at HCMC. In addition to your team registration, we invite you to create your own fundraising campaign on Funraise.

Frequently asked questions

How many teams can I sign up?

There are 150 team registrations open to the public. Each team registration consists of two players. While you can only be on one team, you can register as many as five teams, as long as you know everyone’s name and contact information. So, gather your friends, family, neighbors and colleagues.

Can I just show up on event day or do I need to register in advance?

This is a PRE-TICKETED event. You must register, pay, and sign the waiver before event day.

What can I expect on event day?

A lot of fun. Teams start and end at the Commons. Complete the course in whatever order you choose. There are several stations at each pit stop, but you may find other teams at the station. You may wait for your team’s turn or return to it later. Complete as many challenges as you want by 12:30pm.

How difficult are the challenges?

You will use your brawn and your brain. You do not have to be a serious athlete, just up for serious fun. The course is about three miles in length. As a team you may skip any pit stop that you find too difficult.

What should I wear?

We highly recommend closed-toe tennis shoes versus sandals and to dress for the temperature. Prepare to be outdoors and active. We encourage teammates to dress alike, or in costumes, but it’s not required.

Approximately how long does Adventurama take to complete?

How long you take depends on how many challenges you complete, total number of teams in the race, your pace, and the length of stay at challenges - you may finish all 10 pit stops or decide to cut out early. Estimate two hours to complete.

What if there is bad weather?

Adventurama takes place rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, participants will be informed of start delays, course interruptions, or cancellation. Once the event starts, pit stop leads will keep you updated about any weather-related changes. Bring a charged phone to receive event texts.

Where do I park?

There are several parking ramps, metered parking, and street parking near our start/finish line. We are also on a Metro Transit line and near the U.S. Bank light rail stop. There are multiple places to secure a bicycle as well.

What is the refund policy?

This is a fundraiser, so no refunds will be granted. If you are unable to make the event, you may replace your name with another team member by contacting foundation@hcmed.org. You can also be proud to know all event proceeds enhance the patient experience in our hospital.

Where does the revenue go?

All proceeds support the patient experience at HCMC, Hennepin Healthcare's hospital in the heart of the city. There is plenty of room for philathropy to enhance patient comfort and care.

Can I raise more money for the cause?

So nice of you to ask. Teams are encouraged to use our peer-to-peer portal Funraise. You can encourage friends, family, neighbors and colleagues to support your team with a donation. It’s easy to set up and link to your social media and email accounts. Instructions are shared after registation.

Are there sponsorships opportunities?

Yes, pit stop and event sponsorships are available. Learn more at www.hennepinhealthcare.org/rama24

Can I volunteer?

Yes, be a part of our volunteer team instead of a course team. To learn more visit www.hennepinhealthcare.org/rama24

Do I need to bring anything to the race?

Each team is encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle and have at least one charged mobile phone to help them navigate between locations and be contacted by race organizers. You may be contacted during the event or when the pit stops are closing.

Are there prizes?

Exhilaration, laughter, bonding with your teammate, and a sense of pride for completing the course are the priceless prizes you will take home after your experience. In addition, you’ll know that you just made moments brighter for those receiving care at HCMC. All participates receive an event buff.

Can I bring my dog or child with me?

We love dogs and children but they are not allowed on the course for their safety and for yours.
