Session #3: Advanced Soil Sampling and Testing

Accurate soil and plant testing is essential for data-driven nutrient and soil health management. This advanced class examines a range of analytical tools, including standard soil tests, PLFA, Haney, Total Nutrient Digest, and plant tissue analysis. We will discuss what these tests reveal about nutrient availability, biological activity, and potential imbalances, and how management inputs can support—or undermine—plant and soil health. Participants will explore updated, systems-based approaches to nutrient management that move beyond traditional NPK-focused recommendations to better support crop performance, soil function, and resilience to pests and disease.
