Advanced Short Form: Multi-Week Class
Build on your improv knowledge to take on short-form improv with new techniques in hosting, variations on games, and building a show!
About this class:
Take your short-form improv performance to the next level with this advanced class on hosting, game play, game variations, and show development.
This class will run Tuesdays from June 16th through July 21st, with a student showcase on July 28th.
Topics will include:
- Hosting games
- Playing games
- The show behind the show (and when losing a game is best)
- Managing audience participation
- Creating game variations
- Developing a setlist and show structure
Prerequisites:
This class is recommended for improvisers who have taken Fundamentals of Improv Level 3, or equivalent training at another theater - email us if you have questions!
About your facilitator:
Tashika Campbell (she/her) is a veteran improviser, originally from Charlotte, North Carolina. Co-founder of the award-winning troupe Cake Walk, Tashika is a sought-after performer, facilitator and teacher. She is a co-host of the monthly show, Block Party, a showcase of Baltimore's best Black improv.
Additionally, she serves as the lead coordinator for the 1st Improv festival dedicated to performers of the global majority, in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia area, known as “F.A.M. Fest.” A leader in the community, Tashika also serves on the board of directors of Camp Improv Utopia, and previously served as President of the board of directors at Baltimore Improv Group.
