More difficult techniques are shown like Tatsumaki, Miura, Yanagi and Kumo. As well as Nui, a beginner stitch resist. More tricks to get better designs will be shown as well as moving your blocks or binding to create layered tones and depth to your pieces.

We will also introduce color! Learn how to incorporate fiber reactive dyes into your patterns. Each student will get to choose one color, and share with your fellow classmates, so we have a good array going. Typically each student will have time to add color to one piece. Because this technique requires a longer "batch" time, you may need to bring this project home.

This class is a lot of fun! It helps if you already took the beginner shibori class here or at Brooklyn Brainery. If you have experience with some shibori techniques on your own, you are welcome to try this class out though.

"Better Than Jam" is the textile printing and fashion line of owner Karin Persan, since 2007. The newest space, post Covid, of the same name is now at 10 Grattan Street. There is a small showroom with remnants of the boutique that ran 10+ years that hosted handmade creations of local designers. However the space now is mainly the large private studio of the creator, where screenprinting and textile dyeing occurs. You will be welcomed into the artist's creation space! A little different for returning students but still great and lucky to have.
