About this event

Welcome to Adults With Hobbies!

Finding yourself too invested in capitalist survival and not invested enough in yourself and your community? Learn a new hobby at The Foundry!

Each class will use a radical justice lens to present a brief history and current questions in the field at hand, followed by a hands-on activity where YOU are the MAKER. You will bring home something tangible from each class.

Throughout these weekly summer courses, you’ll learn about community organizations doing relevant work locally, and opportunities to get more involved in the hobbies you like. We’ll also read a book together over the summer, culminating in the final class and get-together, book club/potluck (optional).

WEEK FOUR: Find us in the Food Lab where we'll be prepping delicious yet simple vegetarian and vegan dishes using local and seasonal CSA veggies. Great for folks who are hesitant in the kitchen, or who just want to get more creative with their meals.

All lessons have been planned with people with disabilities, queer folks, and BIPOC in mind. If you have a particular accessibility concern, PLEASE reach out! We can more than likely accommodate you.

Frequently asked questions

How much does each class cost?

Classes are priced on a sliding scale according to individual income. Income <$50,000/year = $15/class Income $50,000-70,000/year = $25/class Income >$70k/year = $35/class

Can I buy a class pack?

Yes! Please contact the organizer (Nicole) to register and pay for all sessions at once. We do offer a discount of one free class if you choose this method! (so classes 7 & 8 are both free). Because classroom capacity differs each week, class packs are limited.

Do I have to attend all 8 classes?

No, but it is encouraged! We highly recommend signing up for as many classes as you plan to attend ahead of time, since capacity differs each week (the kitchen spaces, for example, only allow 10 students, while the dance studio for yoga can host up to 30).

I hate using online payment processors! Is there an alternative?

Yes! Contact the organizer (Nicole) to avoid online fees and pay directly.
