About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

On June 2nd, Jessica Timms from Lifting Up Westchester joins us to share her insights.

LUW provides life-changing support to people who have lost their housing or are struggling to meet other basic needs. Our vision is a community where everyone has a stable place to call home. We believe that housing is the foundation on which a person’s well-being and advancement is built. With secure housing, we have the ability to focus on improving our health, education, and employment. Our team helps people find a home, build on that foundation, and achieve greater self-sufficiency. We provide comprehensive support to people facing homelessness, hunger, and extreme poverty including:

  • Emergency Shelter: beds, meals, and other necessities for single men and women with tailored on-site support
  • Community Central: hot meals, programs and activities, and guidance accessing other community resources
  • Job Central: assistance in preparing for, finding, and maintaining employment
  • Housing: access to safe, affordable housing with ongoing support to ensure sustainability
  • Youth Programs: academic tutoring, enrichment, and mentoring for students from kindergarten through college

When we uplift the most vulnerable in our community, we all rise!

Jessica Timms serves as Lifting Up Westchester's Chief Development Officer. She has twenty years of experience as a nonprofit leader - inspiring supporters, growing philanthropy, and helping individuals build a more secure future for themselves and their families.

Jess earned a master's degree in education, with a focus on literacy, language, and diversity, from Manhattanville College, and a bachelor's degree in English from Roanoke College. She actively contributes to the nonprofit community by serving on the Board of Directors for the Association of Development Officers (ADO) and as Vice Chair of Nonprofit Westchester's marketing committee.

Until that day, we’re collecting food for snack packs to be distributed by Lifting Up Westchester.
