Mental Health First Aid for Adults teaches people how to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and older, how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide a person toward appropriate care if necessary. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, psychosis, and addictions.

Delivery: In-Person at 1515 Heritage Drive, McKinney, TX 75069 in the Trinity Training Room. (Trinity Training Room is located upstairs, down the right hallway, and last room on the right.)

You will learn:

- Common mental health concerns among adults.

- How to reduce stigma.

- How to recognize signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use problems in adults.

- Skills to use a 5-step action plan to help an adult who may be facing a mental health problem or crisis, such as suicide.

* Please do not register for this class if you have taken Adult Mental Health First Aid in the last 12 months.

Description: Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. Learn the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to appropriate care.

• Common signs and symptoms of substance use.

• How to interact with a person in crisis.

• How to connect the person with help.

CERTIFICATIONS & CONTINUING EDUCATION: Participants that complete the full course will secure a three-year certification.
