This course will be held on the following dates (you MUST be present for both dates to become certified in AMHFA; certification will not be awarded if you are not present for both dates):

This is a course in Mental Health First Aid, and upon successful completion of this course you will be a certified Mental Health First Aider. Learning will be highly interactive through the use of large and small group discussion, breakout rooms, and scenario-based learning.

This course consists of 2 components:

  • You will then participate in a 7-hour instructor-led virtual course (via Zoom) that is held on June 4 (3.5 hours) and June 11 (3.5 hours)--this timing schedule includes breaks.

This course teaches you how to help an adult experiencing a mental health crisis, having difficulty with substance use, or experiencing other mental health concerns. At the end of the course, you will be able to identify, understand, and respond to signs of substance use and mental health difficulties in athletes and other adults you serve. We will also discuss how to integrate concepts learned in this course into your MHEAP and work with athletic populations.
