ADHD Job Seekers’ Support Group: Navigating the Job Search Together
Navigating the job market with ADHD can be a deeply emotional journey, often more so than we often realize. With recent waves of layoffs, job seekers are facing even more intense competition. And the stress is often exacerbated for those of us with ADHD.
Here are some of the emotional battles you may be facing:
- Imposter syndrome and lack of confidence regarding your qualifications
- Anxiety about the heavy executive functioning required to sustain a job search
- Fear of discussing a less-than-perfect career history on a job interview
- Overwhelm at the prospect of starting something new
If any of these feelings resonate, you're in the right place. This group was created by an ADHDer (me!) for ADHDers—to remind you that you are NOT alone.
Whether you've been fired, laid off, are leaving a toxic work environment, or simply seeking a fresh start, you're invited to join me and up to five fellow job seekers with ADHD. Here, you’re free to share your story in a confidential space, with no shame and no judgment — so feel free to leave your mask at the door.
We see you. We hear you. And we're on this job search journey together.

Frequently asked questions
No, you may attend as many sessions as you’d like! But there’s certainly a benefit to coming back each week, as the consistent support and shared experiences can help you stay motivated and focused on your job search goals.
The main goal of this group is to provide and receive emotional support related to your job search. Because participants are able to drop in for as many sessions as they’d like, you won’t necessarily be committing to action items that you’ll have formal accountability for during our next meeting.
While my primary focus is to facilitate the group, I can provide quick (1- or 2- minute) suggestions or tips, if you ask me directly! Quick question topics may include: How to assess if you’re ready for a job search, how to determine job fit, or how to calm nerves before an interview.
About 4 minutes. I understand it's hard to keep it short with ADHD, but please do your best to practice bottom-lining. You'll get a warning when you have a few minutes left to wrap up and get feedback, if you wish.
I strongly encourage heart-centered communication. Try not to prepare what you will say next while listening, but instead, focus on the perspectives being shared. Please refrain from giving direct advice. Feedback should prioritize empathy, authenticity, and connection.
Job search support groups designed specifically for ADHD'ers are very hard or tend to be quite large. The small size here means that everyone gets a chance to comfortably share in a less intimating space! And get to be supported by peers (and a career coach) who understand ADHD!
No! Whether you're just starting out as a fresh graduate, or you're nearing retirement, you're welcome. This groups supports ADHD'ers from all backgrounds, functions, and industries. The only "requirement" is that you must identify with ADHD.
Absolutely! This is a safe space for everyone. Each participant will be invited to share their preferred pronouns during introductions.
