The festival as previously planned is cancelled to stay safe, and Bay Area Dance Week’s website and social media will shift to feature online dance events.We will use this platform to bring additional visibility to the online dance activities by Bay Area artists and organizations. You are welcome to submit events happening anytime, not just within the festival period, including livestreamed events, recorded offerings, or any other offering you may have.Please note:The activities listed may be free, may be donation-based, or may have a fee. Bay Area Dance Week invites participants to celebrate dance, offering hundreds of free events representing the diversity of dance forms practiced in the region. Bay Area Dance Week

Free, adaptive and physically integrated introductory hip-hop class for all abilities and ages taught by Stephanie Bastos.

This is a FREE, beginner friendly hip-hop class designed for people of all abilities. At Dance for All Bodies, we believe that everyone can dance, all you need is a body and willingness to dance! We welcome people of all abilities in this class, so regardless of whether you have a disability, use a wheelchair or a prosthetic or not come dance with us and bring your parents, grandparents, children and all friends!This class will be taught by Stephanie Bastos, a wonderful dancer and teacher! Her innovative dance class challenges and inspires by creating a sacred space for all bodies to be included in the movement experience. Warm-up, skill-build, find your edge and play with Improvisation, Choreography rooted in Hip-Hop, Urban and Contemporary dance techniques with some African polyrhythms. - This movement experience is designed for everyone! As a pre-professional, she was awarded scholarships to train at American Dance Festival, Jacob’s Pillow and Bates Dance Festival after losing her leg in a tragic car accident and subsequently retraining herself to dance with a prosthetic leg. Since then, she has received her BFA in Dance from New World School of the Arts and has been performing, touring and teaching Contemporary Dance throughout the United States, Germany, Poland, Argentina and Brazil. More about Dance for All Bodies: Dance for All Bodies is a non-profit that organizes low cost, adaptive dance classes for people with differently abled bodies, in order to dismantle the ableist narrative of dance and make the joy of dance accessible to all abilities.
