The purpose of this course is to spark young students' (ages 8-12) interest in reading classic books and to teach them to engage in Socratic discussion about themes, characters, plot, etc. Parts of the books will be read aloud; others will be left for the students to read on their own. Although all editions are adapted to younger readers, some books contain references to violence, death, and so on. Please preview the books to make sure the themes are appropriate for your child.
