In this hour you will:

  • Learn about acupuncture and Reiki
  • Experience a mini acupuncture and/or ear seeds treatment for stress reduction (a version of the NADA Protocol), sitting upright in a chair and utilizing acupuncture points on one ear
  • Relax even deeper with a guided Reiki meditation, which you can use at home to bring peace to your daily life

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine are thousands of years old, and still the primary form of medicine in China. The individual is treated as an integrated whole. Acupuncture treatments stimulate energy pathways, called meridians, that run through the body. Single-use needles that are as thin as a hair are typically used to stimulate the meridians, although pressure can be used instead, such as with ear seeds. The goal of acupuncture is to put your body into a state where it can heal itself.

Reiki is over 100 years old. The style of Reiki practiced and taught at Calandra Center for Health & Wellness focuses on healing of self before starting to heal others. It is based on developing a daily practice of meditations and related techniques. There are two different facets to Reiki. It can be a personal practice for your own personal/spiritual development, and it can be a hands-on healing practice benefiting others. The Reiki meditation you’ll learn at the Stress-Reduction Hour involves deep diaphragmatic breathing, which, studies have shown, reduces effects of stress as measured by such markers as cortisol levels and blood pressure.
