ACUE: Promoting Active Learning Online (Online Course)
New to online teaching or need to brush up on your online teaching skills? Then this course is for you!
This summer Teaching and Learning with Technology and the Center for Faculty Excellence have engaged the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) to offer a course entitled Promoting Active Learning Online to enhance the online teaching skills of our faculty. Many of you are continuing to teach online or will be teaching online programs this fall. We are offering you professional development to teach online now!
The 6-week course will begin on June 17 and focus on planning, designing, and managing key concepts to engage your students in online courses. The course units include:
- Developing Effective Micro-lectures and Modules
- Teaching Powerful Notetaking Online
- Using Groups to Ensure Active Online Learning
- Using the Active Learning Cycle in Online Courses
- Checking for Student Understanding
- Planning Effective Online Discussions
- Facilitating Engaging Online Discussions
Please consider this opportunity to enhance your skills in preparation for current and future online teaching. You will also have the opportunity to develop relationships with TWU colleagues and instructional designers and learn more about effective online course design and teaching strategies. The course will be taught by an ACUE instructor with assistance from TWU facilitators and instructional designers.
